Hesper has always cherished the unique character of Western North Carolina, not only for the area’s beauty and diversity, but for the deep connections the region has to her family and her past. Whether she’s exploring country roads with clients, or enjoying cycling with friends, Hesper loves the process of discovering places that are new and exciting, but are also reminiscent of her own personal history and the rich character that is unique the Appalachian mountains.
Born in Brevard NC, Hesper earned her bachelor’s degree in Housing and Interiors from Appalachian State University in Boone. She has lived in Henderson, Buncombe and Transylvania counties, working in a variety of aspects of the construction industry, from home remodeling and design to contractor sales. Hesper joined Steve Owen and Associates six years ago and enjoys working with buyers and sellers.
Her familiarity with the region and understanding of the housing industry give her a set of skills uniquely suited to NC real estate. And she takes pride in going the extra mile for her buyers and sellers: her tireless work ethic, comprehensive due diligence, ability to coordinate key players and attention to detail consistently result in successful closings.
“It’s pretty exciting, the process of getting to know your clients, exploring the area, and helping buyers find the place that’s the perfect match for them. And after you’ve navigated the road to closing the deal, it’s rewarding to know that you’ve helped someone create the future that they always dreamed was possible.”
In her personal life, Hesper enjoys cooking, traveling, gardening, hiking, cycling, and spending time with her family, friends and pets.
“My quality of life, in Brevard NC, is pretty amazing – whether it’s cooking with friends, getting out in the forest, or enjoying local music. When you’ve lived here your whole life, it’s easy to take all that for granted. That’s one of the things I enjoy about my work; my clients are constantly reminding me of how lucky I am to live in Transylvania County. And in return, when I’m showing Brevard’s real estate to buyers, it’s great to have a familiarity with the area, or even personal stories, that I can share. It gives them a deeper insight, a more authentic connection, than they’re going to find in a brochure. It is not just a house for sale or land for sale in Brevard, NC it is really a whole why of life we have to offer and share with buyers wanting to move to WNC.”

Billy is a great resource to have in Cedar Mountain. As an out of state buyer, I needed someone to trust that would direct me in hiring respectable professionals related to closing the property deal. Billy continues to be a valuable contact even after the sale is complete. Great to work with him! ~ Elaine Orlando, Fl
I work with dozens and dozens of people every week in my line of work. Honestly, I work with very few people that I’d have on “my team” … i.e. bring into my company. You would “make the team”, if I could afford to hire you. I figure that nearly everyone you deal with wants to bring you on board. That’s the ultimate compliment. I can tell you that in most cases, I usually harbor a slight bit of resentment towards most real estate agents who I’ve dealt with over the years … I figured that I knew what I wanted, I found the property, I bird-dogged the problems, I figured out the financing and they were just along for the ride leaching off the deal. As I’ve told you before, you linked me up with the seller because you took the initiative to LISTEN to what we wanted- Clay Atlanta
In my opinion, ANYONE looking for a Real Estate Agent in the Brevard, NC area needs to use Billy Harris. He’s about The Only Agent I’ve seen that actually Works! He’s on top of ‘deals’ & listings and goes the extra distance for the client! He’s not just out for a quick sale. I’ll be doing business with him for a long time. Chuck – Cedar Mtn, NC
